If your deadline is late this year, it seems clear that you'll easily be able to get the lens in time. i mean while it's not exactly kosher (nor illegal) you could buy and then return if you're trip is 15 days or less, but you might lose 15% in the end. Otherwise you'll probably have to buy it. I don't know if they do this, but I'm sure if you pre-pay for the rental, they might. Maybe see if you can get put on a waitlist for rental with someone like. Well, it looks like with you might be able to rent one if you can get an order in soon.? Right now they say out of stuck but supposedly it's available to rental there. On the other hand, I ordered my Z9 from them on October 28, and it arrived Feb 12, for an almost 4 month wait. So, for this lens at least, my wait time was only 18 days. A few hours later, I went back to the site to actually purchase it, but it was already sold.įortuitously, though, I got an email from the Nikon Store late yesterday - my order is now being processed for fulfillment, because they have the 100-400 in stock. I saw the in-stock lens, and *almost* pulled the trigger on it. Well, I ordered my 100-400 Z from Nikon USA on (Feb 6), and oddly enough, yesterday I was looking at Madison Photo. There are plenty of options and B&H-while a perfectly reasonable option-will probably not be the fastest. If you want it fast, either order direct or find some other authorized dealer. And B&H has just now caught up where they are in-stock. Still, indicates a small or nonexistent queue at those retailers. I remember seeing some available in stock at other retailers by September-October, though they would get snatched up.

What other alternatives would you consider? Does anyone have insights into their production ability and when Nikon might catch up? I would prefer the tax savings, but I really want to have this lens for an Africa trip late in the year.
MADISON PHOTO PLUS UPDATE
I called BH because 19 days after applying for the PayBoo I finally had it in hand and needed to update my order. They told me that they are getting "small quantities" in but couldn't tell me where in line I might be?

All in all, it was a wonderful process for my wife with low stress and even relinquished a little bit of control. Both Nikon and BH show them backordered. My wife fell in love with it immediately and really felt like Miss Madison was trying to insure the best possible outcome and not just pushing ideas or a higher cost dress. So, when Miss Madison disagreed with my wife’s dress selection based on her small stature, a carefully crafted suggestion for alternate dress was proposed. Miss Madison was receptive to her choices but I think also picked up on my wife’s tendency for control. Better to like the dress she picked out than risk a photographer selection. Leaving nothing to chance, my wife decided she would get her dress from Miss Madison herself.you know.so she could control part of the process. I’m not sure how she found Miss Madison Photo Props but she was enamored with the photos and was “all in” on the process. As a mother-to-be, I was sure that having her pregnancy photos taken would be no different. So, my wife is a self-admitted control freak and stresses about most things.
